What do you think of this name?

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum... I've got a baby girl on the way and DH & I haven't agreed on a name yet. I have a name in mind that I absolutely love, but my family detests it.

Her name is Moselle.

I would just like to know what others think of this name besides my family.

 Thanks for your input!

  • It is a name I actually considered briefly. I saw it listed somewhere as a feminine form of Moses. I think its nice, but it is definitely unusual and will get some strange looks.
  • It is NMS, but I don't think it is awful.  Is it pronounced MO-zelle? I'm thinking you may need to be prepared for people not to know how to spell or pronounce the name.  That could be really annoying for your daughter as she gets older!

  • Think about when she is older and has children of her own. Does it seem like a good name for when she is older? If you like it that is all that matters, but to be honest if my family didnt like a name I chose for my child I would probably change it. But I guess that is also why we are ot sharing our names that we picked out (names because we do not know the sex yet) because we do not want to be told what to name our child or be told how it could be better

  • It's NMS, but if there is a special meaning to it for you. I think Mosella sounds pretty, too. Then, Ella could be an easy nickname for her.

    Charlotte Ella 07.16.10
    Emmeline Grace 03.27.13
  • I don't like it but if you and your husband do, that's all that matters!

  • I like the suggestion of Mosella because Moselle sounds like an old person. Hopefully she will grow into an older person but that's a hard name for a kid to pull off.

  • It makes me think of the Mosel River in Germany. I kind of like it. But as a PP said, the only people who HAVE to like the name are you and your partner.

Neither Moselle or Mosella are my stle. Mosella sounds too close to the web browser Mozilla.

  • No special meaning to me, just love the way it sounds. I had my reserves about it when I first heard it being said, but it eventually grew on me.

Thank you all for your opinions!
