1st Trimester

How many babies are actually born on their due date?

I don't know about you ladies, but I was born almost 3 weeks late (1 day short of 3 weeks exactly). My Mom was never induced or rushed into having me...I came out perfectly fine :)

But I'm curious to know if anyone is really born on "the date".

  • My son was.

I've read it's about 5% for the actual due day, with 80% within 2 weeks +/- of that.

  • Very few. Give yourself two weeks or so either way. My daughter was born at 38w3d. That's after we stopped labor a few times.

Your poor mother.  3 weeks late!  My ds was 7 days overdue and I was absolutely miserable waiting for him.  Good for her for waiting :-)

  • 2 weeks late with all 4 children..... And even then I had to be induced into labor.... I was totally miserable and uncomfortable
  • I was 11 days late in the middle of September in Florida. If you've ever been to Florida in the summer you have an idea of how miserable that was. I have heard most first time moms deliver at 41 weeks. I'm not expecting to go on time but it would be nice. I'm already uncomfortable.

  • My daughter was born two days before my due date. I was expecting to go late because everyone I talked to told me not to expect going before my due date. Of course those same people also told me I would be in labor for hours upon hours and I was only in labor for 7 1/2 hours.
  • DD was born 4 days before my due date.  I don't believe my clinic/hosptial will allow you to go more than 2 weeks beyond the due date due to the risk of complications

OMG anvloveskme you're pregnant again? CONGRATS.  And yes I will keep my big trap shut on FB.  :)

  • I went into labor on my due date, and then had a c-section two days later because DS just wouldn't come out.

I don't know anyone else who even went into labor on her due date.

  • DD was one day early (she was born at 12:10 am, so she was almost 2 days early).

  • It's entirely possible that a pregnancy 20-30 years ago that was "3 weeks late" was just dated wrong. Women didn't get ultrasounds back then, generally, so a late ovulation could have easily skewed the date.

Yes Exactly. Just too lazy to type it out. Lol.
