Nosefrida

So our Nosefrida is coming in the mail today. I've heard great things about it. DD2 has been congested since birth, so I thought we'd give it a try. Mentally, I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around sucking my child's snot. I realize there is a filter, but it still kind of makes my stomach churn.

So who has used one? Please tell me it's not too gross!

Re: Nosefrida

  • I've used it with DS since about 2 months when his nose holes seemed big enough.  I LOVE it!  It was easier to use when he would just lay there... He is super congested right now and I need two people to get it done because he protests so much.  Still, it works beautifully.

  • Loading the player...
  • I have the Graco version of the same thing.  I love it because it has two different size nozzles that fit on the end.  DD has allergies and now has her first cold, so we've been using it regularly for months.  She used to fight it, but I think she realized she can breathe better afterwards, because she doesn't struggle as much anymore.  It's definitely gross, but otherwise she'd be a snotty, wheezy mess all the time!

  • Oh, and I don't think its gross at all in practice.  In theory, it sounds gross, sucking snot out of your child's nose but its not really in practice.

  • We have it and love it!! It isn't gross at all, I promise, and really the snot just kind of stays in the tip anyways.

Also-about the big size for a newborn, my doc explained that the tip was supposed to just butt up against their nostril. One of the problems with the nasal bulb things is that it irritates and sometimes causes additional swelling each time it is used per nostril.

(gross story.... one time I got a ton out and was carrying the tip to the sink to rinse and wash it. I tilted it too far and had a ton of snot in my hand. I was pregnant when it happened and nearly lost it!)

  • there's no danger of snot making it to your mouth, but it makes the most disgusting sound in the world.  like sucking a snot milkshake.  vom.

  • We have one and love it. It's been great when ds has had colds. It's now harder to use because he will pull away or pull it away.

  • I've never seen this!? I'm sorry it seems super gross!! I'm sure it's not but it seems it, plus I'm not good enough to hold lo still and suck.
