Natural Birth

Birth Plan Review

This is pretty much the same birth plan I used last time, with the exception of the c-section piece.  If anyone feels like reviewing it I would be happy to hear suggestions!  Thanks! Oh and in the real birth plan the font is bigger and there's more spacing between bullets, I plan to have the c-section part on a separate page.

Re: Birth Plan Review

  • Looks fine to me. Do you have any preference about delaying cord clamping, or donating cord blood?

  • Can I ask why you do not want to be told how dilated you are? With my second baby, one of my regrets is not knowing how I was progressing. My labour was very fast, and I was pushing before the midwife arrived, but during my whopping 45 minute prepushing labour I was in such emotional distress because I was in such pain and I thought I was in early labour still. As it is, all I remember of my labour is the terror of thinking I would have to endure much worse for hours to come. If I had known that I was in transition and almost done I think I could have handled myself better and had a better experience as a result. I cant help but wonder if you would likewise feel encouraged by having a quantifiable confirmation of your progress?

  • Good plan.  Did you maybe want to add a note about tearing naturally or perineal massages?

Thank you for reminding me to ask about this!

I found it helpful last time to not be locked into the numbers, I guess my thinking was, "I will be done when my baby is in my arms."  It served me well last time, but it's something that I could easily change in the midst of everything.  Thank you for adding a different perspective to this!

These things are standard at my hospital, or else I would.  Thank you!
