Sorry, stupid FTM question, and yes, I'm going to call the Pedi. Let me just run this by you guys first, though.
C is still BF. I started him on local organic whole cows milk at around 12.5 months. Pedi suggested 4 oz. a day, and C didn't even finish that. He had it for about a month, and I started noticing red bumps around one of the corners of his mouth, and a slight rash around the bottom of his belly. We stopped milk and it went away. We started it again with a taste of ice cream on Saturday night and milk yesterday with dinner and the red bumps are starting to come back around that corner of his mouth. Now, it's not a rampant rash, just a small patch like the width of my pinky nail. Also, he doesn't seem to avoid milk, like itching is tongue or anything. What do you think?
Re: What are the signs of a milk allergy?
When we started A on WCM she got a horrific diaper rash and small bumps on her tummy. I stopped it immediately until I went to the pedi. She told me that this was all normal as the body sometimes has to get used to the different acids and such. She said to stop if it got really bad; all over hives, bloody stool, vomiting, etc.
I tried the milk again after the appointment with the same reactions but kept giving her milk. The rash & bumps went away after a week or so, and never got worse.
This and I will also add bad eczema. DS had issues with his formula and had really bad eczema on his face and body. The Dr also told me that milk allergy can also cause congestion and wheezing. DS has been on milk since his 12 mo appointment but it appears that he isn't having issues with it like he did when he was younger and on formula.
