screamer!

my LO is a screamer! when she wants something she does this loud, shrill scream and I don't know what to do about it. I've tried ignoring her but she just continues. At meal times I've tried to teach her sign language for more but it  hasn't worked....she just screams.....any suggestions?

  • We're getting more screams lately too.  I think it's just the only way they know right now to express certain feelings.

  • OMG! My daughter just started screaming as well. I was actually worried that something may be wrong with her. The screaming is very annoying.

  • B used to scream every once in a while.  Now he is screaming ALL the time.  He screams when he wants the dogs to pay attention to him, when he is happy, when he is mad.  Screaming is the new "hit" thing for him.  Driving mom and dad nuts but we are trying to ignore it and hope it is a phase like his other bad habits he got over.

  • Lol, DS is a screamer too!  I wish someone had a magical solution!  I've just been telling him a stern "No" or "That's enough".....  It doesn't seem to be working :-(

  • My daughter started doing this too.  I assumed it was her way of letting out her feelings of wanting something or being excited.  Here is a good article for you to read:

Thank you so much for posting this!  We are going through this phase right now and it helped put it in a whole new perspective!  I just read it last night and our DD is already signing "more" as of lunch time today!
