Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What's your feeding schedule for 7mth old?

I know our doc said we should feed him 3 meals a day plus his bottles but I just can't seem to get him on any sort of feeding routine. It's not a huge deal but I don't think he's getting enough formula throughout the day. He sttn and sometimes doesn't even want a bottle before bed.

I was just curious about other 7mth olds and what their feeding schedules are like?

  • Whenever she's hungry she gets milk, if she's awake and we're eating a meal she gets solids.

  • I usually feed my LO 3 times a day solids whenever  it is convienent.  He typically takes a bottle every 2 hours, so I feed him solids about 1.5 hours after his bottle. I never feed him when he's hungry for a bottle or if he's tired, so it varies each day depending when his naps are. I found he eats the best if it is right after a nap because he is awake and isn't starving for a bottle yet.

  • I feel like she's eating all day long.  She goes to DC 3 days per week so it's a little easier to keep her schedule there. We aren't strict about the schedule but she sticks to it on her own pretty well.  On the weekends it's normal for us to either miss cereal or lunch b/c we're out and about doing things.

    6:30am BF

    8:30 bottle

    8:45 cereal

    9/9:15 nap

    11ish bottle

    11:30/12 lunch (fruit/veggie puree)

    1/1:30 nap

    3pm bottle

5:30 BF  (we skip this one if her afternoon bottle was later than 3:30)

    5:45/6 dinner (veggie/meat - BLW finger food)

    7/7:30 BF bedtime.

Sometimes a 1 am BF too.

  • DS is just about 7 months.  He nurses every 2-3 hours while I'm home.  He gets two 4oz bottles at DC and also has 1 meal of solids a day while at DC.

Our pedi said to be at 3 meals of solids a day sometime during the 8th month, but no rush to get to that.  We'll start his 2nd solids meal next week.

  • Our Feeding Schedule

    7 am-5 oz bottle

9-9:30 am- rice cereal with 1/2 jar of fruit or 3.5 oz of premade cereal/oatmeal with fruit

12-12:30 pm- 1 (3.5 oz) jar of vegetable 3/4 (3.5-4 oz) jar of fruit 3 oz bottle or juice

    3-3:30pm- 4 oz bottle

4-5pm juice with puffs or banana

5-6:30 pm- same as lunch with juice

    7-7:30pm 5 oz bottle

I know it looks like she just eats all day but she seems very happy and has not been constipated since we started solids at about 4 months. We just started replacing milk with more juice. Our pedi says she should have about 20 oz of formula. He also says we could start meats but the meats smell terrible. She is in the 90-95% on height/weight.

  • Our ped said 3 meals per day by 9 months...so we have taken it kind of slow with food.  Her current schedule for the most part is:

6:15 - 7.5oz bottle plus 1/2 small jar (1.25oz) of the food we are "trying" for the week

    9:15 - 7.5oz bottle

    12:15 - 7.5oz bottle

    3:15 - 7.5oz bottle

    5:30 - 2 tablespoons of oatmeal + a 3-4oz bottle

We feed bottle and food directly before/after each other with really no time in between.

  • Thank you! I appreciate all the feedback. Yes, I do know the formula is more important. I think I'll just try to work it out. I know that lunch is always the meal I'd rather skip and let him have formula instead.

  • We don't really have a schedule of times like others, but I give her a bottle every 3 hours (or so) and she gets solids 1 hour after eating her morning bottle, afternoon bottle and evening bottle. She is in DC all day so they handle 2 of the meals.

Try giving solids an hour after the bottle 3x's a day.
