Recommend your humidifier please

I need a new cool mist humidifier for DD.   I had the crane animal one and despite cleaning it all the time, it would still get moldy/slimy.

Do you have one you recommend?  Do you have problems with mold/slime?

  • We have the Crane Drop humidifier. I haven't had any issues with it getting moldy. I clean it 1-2 times a month. Maybe the shape of it makes a difference in where water may collect or not collect?

I was just looking at this one.  Do you use filtered or distilled water?  I am wondering if it maybe is our water that is causing the problems- we have well water.

That's a good point. We use filtered water.

  • We had the same problem so I switched to a Vicks. It was like $20 at BRU and it works great.
  • We use the Crane Elephant humidifier with distilled water.  I've never noticed it to be nasty inside when I clean it.

  • We have a warm mist humidifier made by Honeywell. We have really hard water here so I usually have to douse it with vinegar every week or two to remove the salts that have built up. I also clean it with bleach once or twice a month.

  • Water makes a HUGE difference.  We have a Pureguardian.  Yes, it was pricey, but I LOVE the option of having warm or cool mist.  Surprisingly, the reviews on BRU are not great, but for me, I have only had a good experience.

Honestly, I would go so far as to say it is the best humidifer I have ever owned and I have had MANY.
