Bleeding with bowel movements. TMI

For the past two weeks I've had painful bowel movements and there has been blood when I wipe. The past few days however I noticed blood in the water before I flush. Enough to turn the water pink. I have an appt with my OB on wed to have my IUD put in but thought I'd ask here too. Is my OB someone to ask about this or should I call my GP? I'm taking stool softners and that has made it less painful but the bleeding has increased. It's bright red in color. TIA for advice and sorry for the TMI.

ETA: fix my auto correct mistakes sometimes I dislike my phone.

    I went to the doctor for similar symptoms this week and I have an anal fissure. She said to start with stool softeners twice a day and increase until I have 1 or 2 soft and easy to pass stools a day, which will allow it to heal.

    I've never had them so I'm not sure. How exactly are those diagnosed? I'm assuming they are and treating it as if that's what it is. But when there was enough blood to turn the water pink I got worried since that's a lot more than there was before.

    Your OB might refer you to a specialist. I had the same symptoms and was seen by a surgeon who checked for hemorrhoids. None were found but he gave me a special compound jelly to lubricate the area and help my anal muscles relax when I pass stools.

    I had this, too. After a few weeks of painful BMs, which I just sucked it up and dealt with myself, I started to have AWFUL rectal spasms! They would last 4 to 5 hours after each BM and were really terrible. I would say definitely mention it, because once you get to that point, it's more difficult to heal. I am very blessed in that for me, I just had to start Miralax and that made things soft enough to allow it to heal!! GL!
