Grinding

My son just cut 4 new teeth (all at the same time, poor guy). He now has two on bottom and four on top. The day after the top ones came through he began grinding his teeth really loudly. I've been searching the web to get some insight, but I haven't found anything. Could he damage his teeth by grinding? Is there something I should/can do to stop him? TIA

DD2 grinds her teeth from time to time. I think it's just something they figure out they can do and it makes an interesting sensation and sound. It can damage their teeth if they do it a lot and for an extended period of time. But I think, at this stage it's just baby experimenting and not something to worry about. You could try giving LO a teether when they start grinding, to encourage them to chew on something soft instead.

I hated when Ds did this. He did it constantly for a week or 2, then stopped just has quickly.
