Get told you could carry your baby in the car seat? At my one week follow up they said I could still only carry the babies and things that are the weight of the babies (about 7lbs), but I'm getting antsy to take the kids out and about but can't do it on my own unless I can carry their car seats.
Lost our first little peanut on 1/17/2012 at 9 weeks and 5 days. We miss you little blessing, but we know you were too perfect for this world.

Re: When did you...
I left the hospital 9 days PP, and I had to lift the car seat onto the snap-n-go stroller since DH was at work. I think they had given me to okay to do that, but not in excess. Check with your doctor.
Also, I wasn't technically cleared to drive until 2 weeks. I think I had to drive somewhere a couple days before that, but I was off the narcotic meds and not loopy. I also didn't take DS with me.
Since you have two, I would be careful - it's easy to overdo it with one! Four weeks PP, I started having pain and realized it was from lifting the carrier to put it in the car. Be careful about how you lift, and be careful not to twist at the waist too much.
I wouldn't put one in the top--carseats aren't made to fit in there and it's not recommended. BUT! Maybe you have a double stroller?? take that along--it might be a little lighter than carrying both seats at once or one seat at least.

I was told when I left the hospital (5 days PP) that I could lift LO in his car seat but nothing heavier than that.
He was a 10 1/2 pound baby- I was allowed to lift a lot
