Naked PE Teacher

No its I didn't mean it literally.  But seriously, as my bump is growing I'm running out of options.  First things first, I am 18 weeks pregnant and I feel like I look 25 weeks pregnant. My bump (or should i say bumps, yes I have that upper belly then the dip around my belly button to the lower belly......) is growing.  My husband calls me the B bump because when I turn to the side it looks like a B.  I am struggling with the weight gain and the stomach growth SEVERELY! I am a Health and PE Teacher who exercised as much as I could.  But the sickness over took and then there was the day I could barely give instructions without feeling like I was going to pass out. I've always had body image issues and have WORKED my butt off to stay at my 175lb weight. I'm 5'7 and a college athlete years ago....this weight gain i know is healthy and needed for my baby, but how can I change the way I feel?  And to make matters worse, no company offers active wear for pregnant women that I can wear to teach in.....Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, Champion, Reebok, all missing out on this industry....Motherhood active wear has such DEEP V necks my tatas that are growing more than my belly would be coming out for  show each period.  Not exactly how I want my high schoolers to remember me.  HELP! I've resorted to wearing my husbands t-shirts and then I just look a hot mess.  Any suggestions on clothing for an active PE Teacher would be helpful!

Re: Naked PE Teacher

  • I'm a teacher--itinerant special ed technology  and I got through it with leggings, maxi dresses and old navy yoga pants.  in fact, i'm 39 weeks and basically for the last two weeks or so I've been on a pants pants strike and wearing the yoga pants a lot.  they are just regular 15$ old navy yoga pants that i'm desperately in love with.  yoga pants vary, try a lot of different brands--old navy, target, go to a store like loehmans or tj maxx and find some you like.  I have a pair from family dollar that are actually quite comfortable.

i know maxi dresses might not be the most convienent for PE but they cover you fully and you can put a cardigan over them if they are short sleeved.  Leggings are like yoga pants but you can't do the tennis shoes so thats kinda a bummer.

If you are worried about the deep v, get some wife beaters/undershirts and put them under vnecks.  i've also found some nice tunics/longer shirts at kohls that are comfortable.  try some consignment stores and see what is out there...

another way to feel more put together might also be getting some scarves or long necklaces that match some earrings so you can feel like you are putting something into getting dressed and give them something else to look at.  I just got into long necklaces right before I got pregnant and got like 4 new ones right before we announced...so I think that kinda helps too.  It makes me feel more put together anyways....

    Good luck!

  • I'm a PE and Health teacher and when I was preggo my go to was the roll over waist band yoga pants. I wore the heck out of VS stuff. Their cute baggy shirts and yoga pants. Hope this helps. Good luck! Try to stop beating yourself up...your pregnant! Congrats!
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...
Mom to Carter (6), and Calianne (1).
Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!

  • Target has a good supply of maternity clothes that you could wear as active wear. Long sleeve tshirts and such. My boobs got huge while pregnant then larger after delivery so I understand.

  • Victoria's Secret Online! I teach first grade and I am 5'11" so I needed to have long torso stuff because I am on the floor a lot. The fold over yoga pants were the best. The shirts also were nice and long. I also shopped at target and bought some of the Liz Lange v necks too. Also search around and see where the closest Motherhood Maternity Outlet is located. I bought a bunch of casual shirts from them for under 15 bucks each
