LO slept about 10.5 hours last night and she only feeds off of one side at a time. Due to that righty, a.k.a MONSTER BEWB, got extremely engorged because her first feeding was off of lefty. I just pumped because she's napping now and it could be another hour or two before she eats again. I got a little over 7.5 ounces total that had to be split into two bottles. The 5 ounce bottle is pretty much all fore milk. When I put them side by side you can see a clear difference in thickness because the second bottle is basically all hind milk.
I'll feed her from these bottles when she wakes up, but should I pour some of the fore milk into the hind milk bottle or just feed her all of the fore milk bottle and then if she's still hungry give her the second bottle? I don't know how many ounces she typically eats because she rarely gets a bottle. This is exactly why I never pump...it leads to me over thinking!
Re: I don't pump very often, so I have a question
I don't think I do but I can always use the old bartender trick of pouring them back and forth.
ETA: That's what I just did! And I just filled the other bottle up to get another ounce and a half in there, so problem solved! Serious mommy brain this morning! Thanks!
That's a good point. Would you feed off that same side you just pumped or the other side?
What PinkLily said!
Dude...7.5 ounces would be like 3 bottles for Hazel. I'd be thrilled.
I always pump both sides when I pump (not often). Lefty puts out a LOT more than Righty for the pump. I get all that ready for freezer (I'm lucky to get 3.5 oz total in a pumping). Then next time I start off on Right side because I know I have a lot more in there than will come out for the pump. I usually feed on both sides each feeding, though it does vary.
