Craigslist stroller (BOB) - reasonable price?

I posted this on the gear board as well -

My parents already bought our main stroller for us as a gift .... but we are looking to buy a second hand BOB single off Craigslist for running.

I was wondering what you think is a reasonable price to pay for a 2nd hand BOB in good condition?  And does what year it is matter if it's well taken care of and works? There are a couple for $150.  I'll try at least for $125.  I ask because yesterday there was one that looked great but it was from like 2006 and they wanted $130, and I felt $130 was a lot for something 6-7 years old.  WDYT?

 Thank you guys!

Re: Craigslist stroller (BOB) - reasonable price?

  • I don't think the year matters.  I think A LOT of people buy BOB strollers with good intentions of running as soon as the baby is old enough but then they just never use them and they collect dust.  My neighbor gave me hers that is now like 10 years old and she actually used it pretty much every day for 7 of them.  It is in good shape and works well although I have been wanting to buy replacement tires for it because the treds are worn.

Edited to say that I think they are extremely well made strollers that hold up.

  • Mine was $400 brand new in 2009, it's in perfect condition- I'd want at least $200 for mine. They hold up amazingly well. $130 isn't too much for an older one if it is in good condition.

  • You can get a BOB revolution SE for $315 with free shipping on amazon.  You can probably even get an extra 10% off with a registry completion coupon if you go that route.  I am amazed at all of the people that post older BOB's on craigslist for $200+ (I tried to talk some of these people down, but was not successful - they are a lot of them on our craigslist site, so it surprised me).  I think people are more focused on how much THEY payed vs. how much you can buy a new one for. In my case, I decided that I wanted the new shiny one and I could always sell it (for a more reasonable price - like $150) when I am done.

Sorry - done with my rant now!  For a used one, I think that $125 would be fair.  If you are using the BOB as your main stroller, be sure that the year that you buy is compatible with your infant seat and that you can still buy an adapter too (assuming you are getting an infant car seat).

My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!
