Breastfeeding

I just have to AW.

With my first daughter, I did not have any BFing support.  My hospital is very pro-BF but they didn't really help me.  I threw in the towel at 2 weeks because it hurt me whenever she latched on.  I now know that she had an incorrect latch, and I wish so much that I had known that then, but it's ok.

With my second daughter, she did incredibly well.  I BFed her for about 7 weeks or so, until I had to go on medication that wasn't good for her.  She was able to still get BM for a couple of weeks due to the freezer stash I had built up.

I just had my third daughter two days ago on the 29th.  I was bound and determined to make BFing work out.  The hospital I had my c-section at is amazing.  They have a lactation department that comes around and helps anytime I need them, answers questions, etc.  It's incredible.  Anyways, my LO has a great latch, and she has been eating about every 3 hrs during the day, and at night it seems to be closer together.  The first night she ate for an hour and a half straight.  The greatest news:  My milk came in TODAY, on day 2!  I couldn't believe it.

Anyways, I just had to share my absolute joy that it is working out for me this time.  I know I will have lots of quesions later on for the board, but I have already gotten so much information from you all already.  :)

  • Good job momma!

Hang in there. The first few weeks are tough but it does get easier.

  • Congrats!  And when it's 2am and you can't get the baby to sleep because she wants the boob, just remember how excited you are to do this, and know that it DOES pass!  You are doing a great job, mama!
