Placenta art

Hope this isn't too out there, but has anyone seen or done the prints of there placenta? They come out looking like a tree. I think they are really beautiful and am planning to do it. Has anyone done it? What supplies were most helpful? Ink vs paint?

Re: Placenta art

  • I'm also having mine encapsulated by a professional. I debated doing it myself as it really isn't that hard... but don't think I want to worry about getting it done in the first few days while it is still fresh. Both places that I have looked into encapsulation with do prints of the placenta before they encapsulate it... so I guess I'll have prints too. Not really sure what we'll do with them but if they turn out nice I might hang them up... at some point.

This is my first so I can't say much about it... but I have had several other friends swear by it. One friend who suffered from postpartum with her first said the capsules were a lifesaver with the second. Also, supposed to help with breastfeeding/letting the milk down.

  • I am having my encapsulated and she is going to make a print with it beforehand.  DH and I are kind of excited about it, lol.  I know it's kind of weird but since this will probably be our last, I think it will be kind of cool to have a true memento of all my birth efforts, lol.  Although we will probably frame it and keep it in our bedroom so I don't have to explain to every guest what it is, ahhah.
