Wagon Suggestion

We are getting out daughter a wagon for Christmas. We have narrowed down our choices to the Radio Flyer pathfinder or the Step 2 wagon with door. I've always liked the Radio Flyers and I know their brand name is well known however the Step 2 wagon had two things the radio flyer doesn't have. It has a door for easier entry and exit as well as an under the seat storage or any storage at all for that matterthe radio flyer has none. Does anyone have any experience with either to help us make our decision? We definitely want a plastic wagon and don't wan to spend more than 100...thanks!

Re: Wagon Suggestion

  • We've had the Step2 wagon for about a year now and are very happy with it. The under seat storage has been nice for taking things like sippies and sweatshirts to the park without the girls having to have them at their feet.

  • I have the radio flyer one! I love how the seats flip down so she can lay down if she's tired, she can sit on top of it so I can put extras in it. The cup holders are great too.

Mine doesn't have a door and I've never noticed the difference. I throw her in it anyways. THe radioflyer is also a really sturdy solid plastic and the tires are great. The Step 2 one seemed a little "cheaper" to me and like the tires wouldn't do good on anything other than pavement..but probably not a big deal to most people.

I say get whichever you get a better deal on. A wagon is a wagon you know? Esp. since they're both decent brands.

  • Have you missed having storage space in the radio flyer?

Not at all. We take it a lot of places and have never once thought, "Man I wish I could fit more in here." Does diaper bag, purse, shopping packages etc. just fine.

You can fold one seat down at a time, so I usually just flip one down and throw stuff on that side an LO still has space to sit.

  • We have the radio flyer pathfinder.  Love it!  You can get some really good deals on it right now.

  • We have the Step 2 and FIL bought the radio flyer. I have no complaints with the step 2, we bought it used from a friend. DD likes the door and I like that as she gets older I do t have to lift her. FIL bought his for the canopy which I thought was silly to spend the extra money on since it would be more stuff to lug with if we took it to places like the zoo, but I'm not overly concerned with sun exposure when she has sun block on so maybe that makes me a bad mommy...

  • I'm not sure if our radio flyer is the model you're talking about but we love ours.  I've never seen the Step 2 so everything I see here is not a comparison by any means.  I love the way it steers and pulls.  It's not difficult to manuever.  Two seat with straps is awesome and it's great that the backs can be folded down.  I love the cup holders although they don't fit all "cups" perfectly.  I think having a door or not having one is a non-issue.  It takes 2 seconds to lift your child and plop them in.  Not the end of the world.  And ever since she was capable enough DD has been climbing in and out on her own.  I've never felt the need for extra storage.  If we took it anywhere beyond our neighborhood it would only be for a few hours, therefore, the need to for major storage is not a concern.
