In the book What to Expect When You're Expecting it says to save the tissue from the miscarriage so that it can be looked at to see if it is complete. Has anyone actually done that and did you take it to the doctor? Do they run any tests on it or do they just treat it as medical waste?

Re: Saving tissue from miscarriage?
I think I found the sac.
Call your doc ofice before you save it!

My OB didn't tell me to save it so I didn't. My understanding is that Kaiser won't test anything until after the 3rd m/c.
With both of my mc, they confirmed all had passed via an ultrasound.

~All AL'ers welcome~
I recently had a MC at 7 weeks and took the sac to the ER. They told me immediately that most times when you have a natural MC and no DC they are not able to get any results from the pathology report. Unfortunately they were right. I got a call from my OB a few days later letting me know that they didn't have enough tissue even though they had the entire sac. So don't feel too bad that you didn't save it because they might not of been able to test anyway...
So to answer your question no I didn't have the tissue tested.
