Sleeping getting worse and worse

Early May until late August: Kelsey slept through the night.  9ish til 7ish

September- up once a night, usually 3:30 or 4:40ish

October/November- up twice a night, all over the map with when she's up.  Sometimes 1, sometimes 2, sometimes 3, 4, or 5.  Always twice, occasionally 3 times a night.

Now that she can get from lying to sitting, she's not going to sleep at bedtime.  She just keeps sitting up! She goes to bed around 7:30 now.  I dream feed her at around 9:30/10pm.  Other than at night I nurse her at 6:30, she gets a bottle of BM at noon, I nurse her at 4 and 7pm before the dreamfeed before I go to bed.  She's getting solids at 8am, noon and 6pm

I am exhausted.  When she's up at night she nurses for 5 minutes or so and goes back to bed.  It's hard to cut down on how much she nurses because my letdown is a little slow at night, and she doesn't nurse for long anyway.  Also, it hard to stretch her to longer stretches because every night is totally different.  She's in the room with us- not much choice about that, so any CIO method will seriously screw with my household.  Ideas?  Thoughts? Someone tell me this will get better.  Preferably soon!

  • Can't tell you it will get better, although I am sure it will at some point in the next 18 years.. but I can tell you you are not alone and you totally have my sypmpathy.

How the hell either I or DH still function at our jobs some days beats the hell out of me... but we do.  Someone abducted my awesome lil sleeper too and replaced them with a teething hannibal lecter who apparently needs very little sleep.  He is super happy MOST of the time, but when he is fussy ....oh hell let me run screaming for the hills...

Like you I am hoping it won't last too much longer... if I have to wait till he gets all of his teeth before I get a good nights sleep.. I'm screwed ...lol we're at number 7 now..found another one todayHuh?

Sparks- Your LO and mine always seem to have similar "issues", whether it be eating, sleeping, or whatever else!

  • I'm assuming you have a solid wind down bedtime routine? I know, standard question but its made a little bit of a difference for us. It seems at this age the keeping hitting milestone after milestone which interferes with their sleep of course and then if that not the problem it's teething. To me it's hard to try to even justify sleep training because with teething etc how do you know for sure there is not a issue. Sorry, I have no answers. This too shall pass?
