I never do. I figure I don't tip at Chipotle or Subway and it's basically the same thing. I worked as a server at a breakfast restaurant through college and the hostess would get the togo tips if there ever were any (not often, only when really nice people like Beca would come in). Didn't make any sense sine they never even touched the food!
That said, if it is an order for a large party that is a pain, then yes I would.

Same here. But DH usually pays for stuff an he generally always leaves a tip everywhere.
I sometimes work doing the takeout orders you describe (not curbside pickup), and I live off those tips (just like a regular waitress). Since I generally process more orders in an hour than I would waitressing, those 1-2 dollar tips really do go a long way! That being said, unless someone is a giant PITA about their order, I don't "expect" a tip the same way I would if I've committed a whole hour of service to one order of people dining in at a table.
I would never tip at a Subway, but I do tip at non-Starbucks coffee places sometimes. I tip for take-out, delivery, and regular restaurant service.
I didn't realize that someone's entire job would be take out orders. It seems like the hostess or bartender does it. Maybe that's just in a restaurant with fewer orders.
Re: Do you tip for take-out?
Absolutely...someone still provided a service of bagging the food and processing the payment!
I worked ToGos at P.F. Changs for 4 years! It paid for College!!
Well now I feel bad Beca!

Usually, unless the service is exceptionally bad. (ie: you walk in and nobody acknowledges you while they finish up a conversation).
I waited tables for several years at a little restaurant where the servers did basically everything except cook the food for take out orders.
