Two ultrasounds and no heartbeat

in 1st Trimester

I thought I was 8 weeks along or so, but I think I might actually be 6 weeks, 6 days (conception weekend of Oct. 20th). I have now had two ultrasounds where no heartbeat could be found, but the gestational sac had grown. When I did the HCG test about 1.5 weeks ago, everything was doubling normally. Did another one today and won't know results until Monday.

My doctor only loosely feels that I am still pregnant, and won't say directly it is a blighted ovum. I have read lots of forums indicating that this early, many women get told this. I have been keeping a really good head (it either is a baby or it isn't), but I'm getting agitated about...particularly as I'm still exhausted and nauseous. Every time I feel slightly better, I worry that maybe there is no baby.

 Thanks for letting me vent.

    I don't have any experience, so I can't say what to do or think.

    I did want to say that I have my fingers crossed for you, and really hope that you are just earlier than you thought.

    I actually am going through a similar thing right now for the first time so I feel your pain.  My u/s was yesterday.  I'm just trying to stay calm and pray that I am just earlier than I though.  I won't find out until next Thurs!  G/L and lots of prayers!

    that is so strange that you have to wait for those results. maybe its because you are earlier than I was when I found out I had a blighted ovum. I was 9 weeks. (8 weeks first u/s, went back for a 2nd a week later just for reassurance) and I was told on the spot. I am so sorry, I know it is hard!

    I had this with baby number 2 and when I went in for the u/s they told me they couldnt see the baby just the sac...turns out I was just very early in the pregnancy. Best wishes to you.

    I had a positive HPT on 11/23/12 and 11/24/12.  I had a doctor appointment scheduled with my GYN on 11/26/12 in which I took a urine and blood HCG test.  I recieved the results on Tuesday 11/27/12 that I indeed was pregnant and my levels were 746...My husband and I have been trying for two years (We took Clomid 3X).  I was told that from the date of my last period which was 10/5/12...that I am about 7 or 8 weeks; however, when I went to the OB he could not see the sac or hear a heartbeat during the ultrasound.  He told me to take another HCG test and informed me that the numbers may come back different than what I expect, as the lab that the test were taken at on 11/26/12 was different from his.  So I tok the blood HCG and recieved the results on Wednesday that my levels were 723...I was freaking out like OMG they went down.....During my visit on 11/27/12 with the OB he informed me that I maybe having an eptopic pregnancy or maybe a threatened miscarriage; but in my heart I felt something different.  A mother knows.....Right????.  I was told that I would know for sure if I was pregnant on 11/29/12 after my blood results came back from the test taken early that morning and to my surprise my levels doubled...they were almost 1600.  I became so emotional and began to cry.....My family has been telling me that my date of conception may have been miscalculated, as during this pregnancy clomid was taken to induce ovulation.....I am soo happy, as this is our first baby.  I am going for another blood test on Monday 12/3/12 and I am praying that my numbers go up more.....My baby is a fighter just like his/her mother and I wont give up because my baby has the final say....So no nothing to torture yourself over....take it easy and let the baby tell you when he/she wants to be revealed!!!!!

    When was your last ultrasound? Even as early as 5ish weeks they should be able to see something in your uterus...but a heartbeat won't be detected until (I think) 6 w 1d.
