Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be able to post here now and am hoping to be able to be active on here once things settle down at home.
Long story short - I'm Carolee and I joined TTCAL in 9/2010 after losing our son, Eliott at 37 weeks. After struggling with IF and several other early losses, we got pregnant with our rainbow Lucy in March. She arrived on 11/26...I posted a quick birth story on PgAL so here's the link:

If anyone else has had experience with having to supplement due to weight loss/slow supply and/or jaundice, I'd love to hear your experience.

So very excited to see you over here!
I supplemented with my son during our hospital stay (1 day for induction, 4 days post-partum). My milk didn't come in until the day I was discharged and he had low blood sugar and was borderline jaundice. Never needed any therapy for the jaundice, but they wanted to push food into him to help clear it out. We supplemented via syringe with him at the boob. Basically he had to suck for us to hit the plunger. Taught him sucking equals food and stimulated my milk. Once my milk came in I stopped supplementing completely. He was EBF (aside from solids once he was older) until I messed up and didn't pump when I should have at 11 months and my supply tanked. It IS possible to EBF even if things don't start out on the best note.

Motherhood is not for wimps
We've had to supplement with pumped this entire time due to weight gain issues. We even gave a little formula for a while to up her calories. We recently found out she has a jaw issue causing her mouth to not open all the way and preventing her tongue from making the right action. We're seeing a ped chiro on Monday to hopefully resolve the problem. I highly recommend finding a GOOD LC outside of the hospital. GL!
Just read your birth story, and welcome to PAL
(I'm sorry for your previous losses, but so happy to see a pic of little Lucy in your birth story ?)
My son was born with jaundice and had to have the lights treatment while we were in the hospital and two days of labs when we got home, but he really turned a corner close to two weeks (pooping that jaundice out really helped ;P).
Because of being in the nursery, he was given formula and just attached to bottle nipples right away - I did pumping for ten days, every two hours, and consulted with two LC's and sadly, my supply just kept dwindling (also my swelling finally went down, so I'm wondering if it was hormonal?). I just don't think my supply ever went from "transitional milk" to "full milk" supply (by the tenth day, it looked like water, versus milk, and I had only pumped an ounce in almost twenty four hours
. . . afterwards, I didn't even have any pain, or engorgement, so I really don't think there was anything in there
)
HOWEVER if BF is your goal, keep sticking to it, and just talk-talk-talk to LC's (all the luck with it, because it certainly isn't "easy" or as natural as it seems it should be - at least it wasn't for me, haha!).
As for weight loss, yeah, I don't know the exact number, but I was reassured by everyone that a certain amount isn't just normal - it's expected, so I wouldn't be worried about that either (but always get reassurance from a doc, or an on call nurse - if anything, for your nerves)
