Infantino flip carrier

Hey ladies,I have tried a moby wrap, a pocket sling and frankly I am not comfortable with them. I get so concerned about suffocation and really do not like putting on and taking off the wraps. The infantino flip carrier is sold in my town (which is very small so I don't have a lot of options). Also it's affordable and I can return it. I know that some "crotch carriers" can be harmful for babies. But my intention is not to have LO in the carrier everyday or even most days. I'm just looking for something to use when we travel, and occassionally on outings by myself. Once LO can sit up comfortably I probably will not be using it. So what are your thoughts? Would it still be harmful?

Re: Infantino flip carrier

  • Someone gave us an Infantino carrier and I honestly don't care for it--it puts a lot of strain on my upper back. But that's just me!  I was worried about the "crotch dangling" too, but from what I could see, the carrier supported her bum and back rather than having her "straddling" the midpoint.  Still, not a lot of experience using it since I didn't like it very much.

  • i had the infantino carrier negore i got my ergo.  it was soooooooouncomfortable fpr me and ds screamed every time o put him in it.  sorry for typos
  • I wouldn't get the flip.  Infantino does have carriers that offer knee to knee support if you need something inexpensive - the Support or the Sash - both are available on Amazon.

Knee to knee support is a comfort issue for the wearer as well - if baby is dangling off of you instead of snugged into you, it will strain your back more.  I also wouldn't discount using a carrier once baby can sit - you may find you both really like it ;)

  • Also, the Infantino Balance is a GREAT carrier for when they get a little older (maybe from 4 months on?). I still wear my tall 8.5 month old in it often!
  • I had the infantino flip, and it was AWFUL. So uncomfortable, and DD hated it as well.

  • I knew nothing about carriers when we registered for and received our Flip.  I didn't use it all the time, as when I was on leave I held DD a lot (mostly becuase it never occured to me to use the carrier around the house - DUH!).  I used it for shopping trips of two hours or under and never had an issue with it.  DD is pretty small though - she probably wasn't more than 15 pounds last time I used it.  If it's your only choice and you're not going to use it all the time, it might be all right for you.  You might want to look around on Amazon though, you might be able to find something in the same price range that might work better for you.
