Does BM or Lansinoh Lanolin cream stain clothes? Also, mixing refrig BM & just pumped BM - ok to

Two Q's:

Does BM or Lansinoh Lanolin cream stain clothes? One of these is not completely getting out of my t-shirts in the wash and I'm trying to figure out which.  Assuming it is the cream .. bummed got one of my fav shirts!

Also, read in a previous post that you should NOT mix refrigerated BM and newly pumped BM.

  • It's the lanolin.  Sorry.

No you shouldn't mix chilled BM with freshly expressed unless you are immediately feeding to baby.  The freshly expressed will warm up the chilled milk.  Once chilled milk is warmed it should be used within a few hours or it will spoil.  If you want to combine milk from more than one pumping session, just chill the newest milk for a few hours before combining.

  • Oh yes, the Lanolin stains horribly (sorry you are just now finding out!). I walked around the house with nursing tanks that always looked like I had been leaking, not fun.

  • I never understood how to chill BM before combining it. When I chill it, clumps of fat stick to the container, If I pour it into another container, that fat stays in/on the first one, and I would essentially lose all that nice fat, so I don't do it. I've never had an issue with combining fresh with chilled, or warming some chilled with warm water in order to get the fat to mix again so I can freeze it.

Swirl the milk around the bottle I've read not to shake just swirl and you should be able to get the fat to mix into the milk.

I scrape the fat off the side of the bottle with a baby spoon and then swirl to mix it in.
