STM with boys...

What kind of ointment are you supposed to use to help the circumcision cut heal? Someone told me A+D, others have said vaseline...Just want to make sure I get the right thing. And if anyone knows an organic product, you get bonus points haha.

And while we are at it, what are you supposed to put on the cord stub, if anything?

    We didn't circumcise, so no help there. As for the cord. We didn't put anything on it. We just made sure it stayed dry.

    We did A& D for the circumcision and and alcohol swabs for the cord per drs orders.

    You will need Vaseline and we also used little squares of gauze actually.

    Nothing for the cord. Just need to keep it dry.

    ETA actually we used alcohol for the cord as well. Rubbed it around the belly button. I think it was to help dry it out faster?

    We used just regular  vasoline. As for the cord, we used alcohol a few times a day to help dry it out.

    I think vaseline for the circ. but I cant really remember, and alcohol swabs for the cord.

    This. We were actually specifically told not to try to "help" the cord dry out with alcohol but I can't remember the reasoning for that.

    You also need little squares of gauze for the circumcision. Vasaline works great is is cheaper than other options.

    Burt's Bees makes a petroleum free version of vaseline that would lean towards the more "natural" type of product.

    I did nothing for the cord but we used Vaseline for DS circumcision.

    We were told to use Vaseline on the circ.  I would wait and see what the hospital tells you after it is done though.  Whatever you need for it, they will give you some there.

    Umbillical cord = nothing at all.  They tell you to keep it as dry as possible and ours told us NOT to put rubbing alcohol on it.

    I was told use bacitracin for the first few days, then vasaline and pulling the foreskin back every day! Nothing for the umbilical cord.

    Vaseline for circ.

    and just rubbing alcohol wipes on the cord. Makes it dry up faster.
