I don't know how these blood tests weren't done before by the first RE, but I just got an email from the current RE's nurse saying this last round of testing shows I'm compound heterozygous for MTHFR. Yay. Let's just add that to my LPD, low AMH and the fact that I'm AMA. I'm seriously starting to feel like everything is wrong with me. It's getting depressing. I'll start adding baby aspirin today and we'll do lovenox starting at transfer for the IVF cycle in January.
I've seen some posts recently about MTHFR on here, so I know I'm not alone I'm not alone in dealing with this. Anyone have a similar MTHFR diagnosis and protocal?
Also, whenever I see "MTHFR", in my mind I think "mother flucker." Anyone else?
Re: Adding MTHFR to the diagnosis
that's 100% what I think when I see it... sorry for all your bad news
I'm Homo Motherflucker on the A gene.
Ask your doctor for a RX for Metanx, it's better than Folgard or just super dosing on folic acid as it's essentially a pre-processed version of the B's (MTHFR is essentially the inabilty to process B's). It's also not a bad idea to have your homocyteine & all your B levels checked to see if the MTFHR is actually having an effect on you.
I'm also on the Baby Aspirin and Lovenox regiment
ETA: There's also a fair amount of discussions to whether MTHFR is a viable cause in recurrent loss. But IMO, better safe than sorry. Baby Aspirin & Lovenox also has more benefits than just the blood thinning aspect, so it's a smart protocol when your RPL

~*~*~*~Everyone Welcome~*~*~*~
I think just about everyone refers to it as mother effer. I found a really great blog about it once, wish I would have bookmarked it.
Apparently mine is the "least worrysome" of the mthfr mutations. My RE recommends a baby aspirin everyday, especially when I'm not ttc. He said with mine it was kind of up to me if I wanted to do baby aspirin when ttc. I'm kind of on the fence about it right now.
My homocysteine levels were slightly elevated, so I do take a b-complex and 1mg extra folic acid daily.
