creative peeps I need some ideas

I'm not really creative or into making my elf do a ton of mischief things or whtaever but I was thinking of doing a special '12 days of xmas' thing leading up to xmas where the elf would show up with a little treat of some sort, nothing big or like a real gift/toy though- for example,

temporary tattoos

a craft for us to do together

a little treat (candy cane, cookie, whatever)

something that we're going to 'do' that day (for weekends- i work full time) liek visit the museum, go to the pool, etc

the ingredients to bake cookies that day

instructions to watch X christmas special on tv that night

a holiday themed app for the ipad

Anyone have ideas of simple things I could do esp on some weekdays when a real activity is not realistic?  Or maybe an easy activity that could be done after work before bed or during bedtime (no coloring the bath water please, I've done that & did not like the outcome haha)

Thanks!

  • You could read a Christmas themed book one night.

  • There is a really cute idea on Pinterest about giving the kids a golden ticket at bedtime. The ticket earns them a trip in your "sleigh" and you have hot chocolate or popcorn or some other treat. You drive around your city looking at lights. The elf could have the tickets waiting for you guys when you get home from work/school.

There is also a recipe on Pinterest for making snow. It seems like a foam that you make out of shaving cream and a few other ingredients.

Your elf could bring a gingerbread house or gingerbread men/women to decorate, or just simple slice and bake sugar cookies that you can decorate.

  • I loved "playing restaurant" when I was a kid. We would set the table nicely and then my mom would give us menus with two or three entree and side-order choices. Then she would serve us.

You could do those place mats that they can color- make some holiday themed ones real quick with clip art and powerpoint.

Do you plan to send treats to DC or school? The elf could have the treats waiting in the morning with a note "enjoy sharing these with your friends" or something.

Make Red and Green bubble soap for the bath. <-- lol, I just read your post more carefully. Not bubble bath, to blow bubbles with while IN the bath ;)

  • You could watch one of your favorite christmas specials together or 'write' cards out to send to special family members...
