There are a lot more foods and recipes, but this are some. These are called pasteles. They are made with plantains or yuca and then stuffed with meat.
This is called tembleque /coconut pudding/
Coquito /coconut rum/ is our Puerto Rican eggnog
But one of the biggest traditions is the lechon asado /a roasted pig on a pit/. Most people with big families make a whole pig /some even kill them too :shudders:/ but some buy a part of it, pernil /that would be a part near the thigh and hip/ and depending who makes it it can be really tasty
that looks soo good. except the pig. But otherwise, I am drooling.
hahahajaja I know! That was the best picture I found... well unless you don't like it :P . I do but I'm tired and I just posted that one hehe. I'll try to find some of the desserts
Btw, I really want a parrandas to come to my house tonight!!! I I've these traditions! Do you have a lot of family and friends to enjoy these with?
My family is not that big but I'm kind of worried that our friends from church decide to give us the surprise hahahahahahaha but my family we do get together for Chrismas and have the music and the food. Tomorrow I'll try to find a video of parrandas for you to see.
We have a Puerto Rican friend who always talks about closing business deals by "throwing a roasted pig" someone's way. So, now that image is in my head. I think it all looks wonderful!
And Beca? Just ew.
