TTC After a Loss

Checked in with my DR today ( my PG and loss are mentioned)

I reported in to my Dr today. She asked me to call her at the end of November if I hadnt recieved AF yet and I havent. Its been 6 weeks tomorrow since I took the cytotec to induce my M/C. I had an emergncy D&C 6 days later because the m/c wasnt complete and was having complications from it. At my follow up of course I asked about TTC again. It had taken us 9 cycles and 11 months to get pregnant so I had concerns. We hadn't been using protection for 3 years but actively trying for almost a year. My periods are irregular, always have been and getting Pg has always been a struggle. I am 38 years old in a few days and well Im running out of time to keep crossing my fingers and hoping this is the month Im finally Pg. Today my DR presribed me Provera and  50 mg Clomid. Im excited to get my period and be actively trying to TTC again, and nervous about the Clomid.I havent had any tests done as to why my periods are irregular and after reading someone elses post about Drs prescribing Clomid like its candy today, Im kind of freaked out. I asked the nurse if I was going to be monitered while taking it and she said Nope, Im just supposed to call when I get a positive result on my OPK. Is this normal, or should I be concerened that she isnt monitoring me?  I also want to say Thanks to the ladies here for making me feel welcome and Im thankful for this board. I dont know who to turn to when I have these questions and I feel safe being able to post them here. I talk to hubby about them but he is just as confused as I am.

Re: Checked in with my DR today ( my PG and loss are mentioned)

  • I'm sorry you are experiencing frustration, and I understand the need you feel to hurry things along.  My two cents (and I'm sure 99% of the ladies here will agree) - do not take that Clomid until and unless you are seeing an RE.  There could be any number of things going on with your body to prevent you from becoming pregnant that Clomid will not do anything for.  You need to have a full battery of IF tests, and you NEED to be monitored on the Clomid.

Have you read the TTCAL blog?  There is some info there about IF testing.

Please, please, please ask your doctor for a referral to a specialist.  Or, at the very least, to run the IF tests, including an HSG and sperm analysis on your husband.

    PAIF/SAIF, PGAL/PAL welcome.
TTC since March 2010 ~ Dx Unexplained IF September 2011
    2011: IUI + Clomid = CP#1
2012: 3 more IUIs + Clomid = 3 more CPs. One on-our-own pg, also CP
    2013: BTB IUI + Lupron/Follistim/Prometrium/PIO = CP #6
IF testing, RPL testing, Autoimmune testing = all normal
    So lost.

  • Red is wise. I wouldn't rush into this just because your clock is ticking. I think it's safe to say that the TTCAL collective clock is loud enough to be installed in as a town clock tower, but you also need to be concerned about your overall health.

One thing I've learned through this awful process is that you really need to be a strong advocate for yourself and the course of treatment you want. I would call them back and speak to someone else until you get a better answer. Good luck.

  • I'm sorry you're going through this frustrating time. I don't have personal experience with clomid but all other ladies on this board seem to agree with pp. I hope you get some better support from your OB or switch to an RE. GL

    4 Losses (2003, 2008, Apr 2012, & Oct 2012)
All RPL and IF testing with multiple REs = normal

    5 IUIs = BFN

    All AL are welcome
