Is it necessary? What do you put in it?
We will probably make a back-up plan in case we have to move to the hospital, but our MW will be there as our advocate. (They have no jurisdiction at the hospitals, since they don't have a supervising doctor. Montana is dumb.)
Re: Birth plan for home birth?
I never made one because everything I wanted was standard at home...also I spent so much time at each of my appointments with my MW, I figured she knew what I wanted.
I didn't do a home birth, but I didn't do a birth plan either.
Each meeting with my MW we would talk through some aspect of labour and she'd make notes about what I wanted.
Maybe think about what you want in terms of labour/ after the birth and discuss these things with your mw. Find out if she has any standard procedures or how she does certain things, and if there's things that matter to you like DH cutting the cord or catching the baby, make sure she's knows.
