How do your babies roll?

I don't think my LO will roll over anytime soon because she never get the chance. My LO sleeps in swing/bouncer chair for naps and RNP at night. During day she does tummy time on the boppy (cuz she screams and face plants if I have her flat) Also when she is awake she is being held or in jumperoo. So only time she is really ever on her back is when she is on her play mat. Are other ppl's babys flat more? Do your LO's like it? I keep hearing about all this rolling from others, exactly when are they doing it? Do you just lay your baby on floor alot? Or is it cuz they sleep flat, like in bassinet or crib?

  • Henry will play in his mat on the floor (he LOVES that freaking thing, and it's driving me crazy because it only plays four songs, I sing myself to sleep with them sometimes...) and he loves to lay on his back on the couch as well. I also have him on his back on the bed when I fold laundry on Mondays. He started rocking his hips side to side and then one day just threw the rest of his shoulder over. He doesn't roll over all the time, but often enough :)

  • Howell sleeps in a cosleeper but swaddled so I don't really think that makes a difference. I do make sure he gets a lot of floor time. I put him in his play mat but I will also put him on a blanket on the floor with toys. He actually seems to like that better. Sometimes when he's fussy, all he needs is to stretch out a little.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • DS is constantly on the floor with toys and 'playing' with my other son. He is always trying to roll...just not quite there yet.

  • Brooke is only on her play mat 10-20 minutes a night and she has been rolling over since 3 months 1 day. She does front to back and back to front. You can always do more back or tummy time if you want but I think you are doing enough to give your LO a chance to learn how to roll.

ETA: She sleeps swaddled in her RnP, hangs out in the swing or is held by us.

  • I usually lay her on the mat after I get home from work at night. She spends about 20 minutes on it. She doesn't like being on her stomach so I don't push it. I lay her on her back and she's been rolling from her back to her side for the past week. When she's awake, she's sitting up in the Boppy, uses the exersaucer or sits in her bouncy chair and plays with her toys. I'm not rushing it. She seems to be progressing just fine.
