Sick, Tired, and SICK!

I'm feeling really overwhelmed right now. This is my first pregnancy and I am 7 weeks. I am Constantly naseous. Constantly. It does not go away. I throw up only once a day and then the nasea comes back. I'm tired all the time and my nose smells everything. Anyone have some remedies or is it something that I just have to deal with? Will it go away in my second trimester? that seems so far away... My poor husband has been amazing in taking care of me but I feel like a horrible wife not being able to cook at all without running to the bathroom. Any suggestions?

Re: Sick, Tired, and SICK!

  • Have you tried eating saltine crackers?? I keep them on me all the time and always eat a couple before rolling out of bed or getting off the couch or even drinking water. It hasn't completely stopped how crappy I am feeling BUT I can make it through a shower and small chores without feeling sick.

  • I've tried wheat thins but they give me heart burn. I'll have to try saltines. I've noticed that my naseousness gets worse after i take my prenatal vitamins. Is that normal too? Yea, its crazy! I can't even take a shower without feeling sick. I'm hoping it gets better soon. Thanks for the advice!

  • I was getting really bad diaherra when I was taking the prenatals. Talked to me doc about on Tuesday and she said for the now I was ok not taking it and sticking to my regular Vitamins . However, she wants me back on them in the 2nd Trimester.
  • My doctor suggested taking 2 Flinstone chewables in place of your pre-natal until you are able to stomach it. She said it was pointless to take them if you were unable to keep them down or they were making it so you couldn't eat.
  • I wasn't this sick for my first pregnacy. This time I am not doing well :(

Second tri is where I am hoping I feel better.... PLEASE!!!!

As far as the prenatals, with DS they gave me fish oil based vitiams... they made me sooooooooooooooooo very sick. I switched to a plant based plus DHA vitiamin and SO much better. This time around I went right to the plant based one maybe ask you dr about them????

  • Thank you, i'm goint to bring that up at my appointment. I hate everything about them but I heard how necessary it was. It will be nice to know that there are alternatives.

  • I always took my prenatal vitamin at night so I'd hopefully be asleep when the weirdness started. I also kept pita chips close by. The texture of crackers made me nauseous.

  • I think I'm going to start taking them at night too. It didn't bother you when you woke up in the morning? That's what I was afraid of since I have to go to work I didn't want to be late due to throwing up.

  • Don't be scared to ask for Zofran if you are miserably nauseous. I feel so bad for people that are suffering and it's so worth trying something to help.

  • My bestie told me to get ginger root. She said it ugly, but put it in the fridge and it lasts forever. I just cut off a tiny piece when I'm MISERABLE and either suck on it or chew it. It's really hot, and kind of disgusting, but somehow it settles things when they're really bad. I don't enjoy it, but when I'm desperate I do it and it does seem to work (for a while.)
