Embarrassing family stories

The Nic Cage posts made me laugh because my stepdad watches all of the National Treasure movies and thinks the stuff they say in there is real history. He told DH once that he likes the movies because he can learn history while watching them. He wasn't kidding. I swear to you this actually happened in real life.

I lovey stepdad, he's so sweet, but I died of embarrassment when he told DH that.

Tell me something about your family that will make me feel better about mine! Haha!!

    My dad got pulled over on his four wheeler for driving it down the street while intoxicated. He had a 12 pack of beer and a loaded rifle strapped to the back of it. He was hunting deer.

    Love my dad. But it's obvious that my mother raised me without his help. He makes me look like a nun. I am nothing like him.

    If you've seen Waterboy with Adam Sandler, that's me. My mom would tell me things and I would get in serious arguments with people because my mom told me something different. I now do research on what they tell me so I don't look like an idiot.

    My mom told me not to put cereal in DD's bottle for reflux because her digestive system wasn't ready for it. In the next breath, she was telling me that I had spoon fed cereal at 2 months. But, she said, that was ok because babies' digestive systems were different back then.

    One Christmas not long ago, my uncle opened something wrapped in bubble wrap. As he tossed it on the floor, he observed, "You know what that's good for? You lay it on your front step and when the coloreds come to steal things, you can hear 'em and shoot 'em." None of the adults were paying attention, but us teenagers just looked at each other in shock, like, 'Did he really say that?!'

    In the winter my Dad runs a space heater in his truck all night with an extension cord running into the garage. He does this so his truck is nice and warm in the morning with out having to go outside and start it. He has been doing this for years and we are all shocked that he hasn't woken up to his truck being a pile of ashes in the driveway yet.... Someday ....
