appreciating the first trimester

I decided to try to work on my attitude, so here it goes - things to appreciate in the first trimester:

I can still sleep on my belly

I still have plenty of time to buy what I need and save up money

I dont have to deal with the annoying "Awwwww when are you due" questions in that whiny voice as if I'm the baby

I can still see my feet and shave my legs

Changing positions while sleeping doesn't take a forklift

I'm not constantly checking the toilet for the ever elusive mucous plug

my ankles still look like ankles

.... ok.. what else do you ladies have?

Re: appreciating the first trimester

  • Great post! I am thankful for a lot of what you already mentioned, but especially that no one can tell I'm pregnant yet so I don't have to field obnoxious, rude or unwanted comments/questions. Also no judgment on the timing of my two kids.... I absolutely despise when people say "you're pregnant again?" To mom's of one or more. It's rude & judgey.

  • I can still hide it from whoever I don't feel like sharing with
No one expects me to make dinner each night
With the help of a belly band I can still wear normal clothes

    I'm sure there's more...
  • No unwanted strangers in random public places touching my stomah without asking, just assuming that it's ok to touch me when you have never seen me before in your life.
  • It's kind of fun having a special secret just btwn DH and I :)

  • Everyone hit all of the ones that I would have given, but I wanted to say how much I'm in love with this thread!  Thank you!  I needed an attitude adjustment after today...

  • Ditto PP.

Plus, my face is so clear. I don't need to wear make up. I would break out when I O'd and then when I got my period, so really, my face has looked like a teen for over a year.

  • No hemorrhoids yet! Not having to explain that yes, we did plan a 3rd child. It is perfectly reasonable to put a movie in for my kids and sleep for 2 hours in the middle of the day.

I love the part about the 3rd child and the movie for your girls! This is so true for me too!

  • Great post! Although it scares me a little for what we're in for later...

I'm grateful for no need to buy tampons or deal with periods

That my DH is doing much more household work, and with a smile

That I have time to save up for future baby purchases

That pregnancy nudged me to be my absolute healthiest... And I feel it!

Yes, exactly! We haven't told anyone yet, and it's fun having this secret between us. :)
