My son is 12 weeks old and he always has his hands in fists. I am just curious...anyone elses baby do this?

I read in the Sears book that it's a developmental milestone for the muscles in the hands to relax. I can't remember when this happens though. I think it isn't for a little while. I'm sure a STM would know.

My LO does this too... everytime i notice it i try to stick something in his hands... or straighten them out flat

Really? My LO's hands are usually relaxed and when she sleeps she looks like she's about to karate chop anyone who dares to wake her up. She's 7 weeks old. Now I'm going to have to go look this up.

My 3 months old DS still has his hands mostly in fists, too. I think it's supposed to ease up sometime between 2 and 4 months.

Yep! When LO gets startled she opens her hand really wide and looks like this. She has been starting to grab and hold toys and has relaxed her hands a bit now.

Yes! I have taken to cleaning the gunk from her hands at every feeding. How this child gets so gross in the span of 3 hours is beyond me.

Jax's hands are usually relaxed, but he still gets a lot of gunk on his hands, even just his palms. I usually have to rub my thumb across his palms to get all the lint out from the creases.

my LO does this too. We do fist bumps all the time.
