stinky pumping room at work

I'm a teacher and the room they give us for pumping is used by others when my colleague and I aren't pumping. It is often used by another teacher to work one on one with two of her students while her teachers aide stays with the rest of her class. Both are third grade boys who wear a ton of cologne. I'm talking like it smells like they bathe in it. Strong cologne like this gives me an instant headache and I honestly get less milk whenever they stink up the place before I pump. I'm talking .75 less! I've opened the window but its 30 degrees outside and it gets freezing in there really fast. its actually a closet they call a classroom. Any suggestions? Or am I just out of luck here?

  • Yuck. I'd stick cotton balls up my nose so I at least couldn't smell it.

could you get one or two of those arm&hammer fridge boxes with the baking soda in them? then you could leave them in there and hopefully that would absorb some of the stench?

that really sucks. i'm weirded out that 8yr olds wear cologne...

I've never heard of such young boys wearing cologne.

  • I will definitely try this! As well as the Vicks. It was so bad today I held a diaper over my nose the whole time.

  • My third grader would not be allowed to wear it, not that he's ever asked!

  • I would suggest getting some surgical masks and chewing gum while wearing it. I am a medical professional and that is how we handle stinky smells. It works great as long as you don't mind breathing in the mask. Good luck.
