experiencing the dreaded 4 month wakeful? come on in!

So i'm for sure going through this right now. I'm walking around work like a zombie! I Put my coffee cup in the refrigerator and took the bottle or creamer to my desk (its that bad) DS is up every hour or less between 1 and 6 when we finally get up for the day. DH is no help at all, I've been nice and let him sleep at night since i'm nursing anyways he can't do much for LO if he's hungry but now he sleeps through all his crying, i practically have to kick him to wake him up. I can't be to mad at him just because he's a sound sleeper though. He helps out when he finally wakes up lol.

How is everyone else coping with this? have you found any solutions? How long will it last?

  • No one is sleeping in my house either, I hope this is the wakeful period, sleep has been regressing for a month now! Maybe growth spurt, wonder week, and wakeful period, or i just have the worst sleeper ever. Things better change before I return to work, I don't know how you are doing it.  What do you do when he wakes up? Nurse every time, paci, rock back to sleep?

  • Last night was terrible.

The past 2 nights he slept through the night and was awesome. First time. Ever. Then last night he woke every 20 minutes from 7 to 11, then every hour until 2, then he finally slept solidly until 7 am.

H was over there snoring away the entire time. I actually said out loud "you lucky bastard, I want to punch you right square in the face." He didn't hear me, of course.

I wanted to nap this morning, but ds decided to cat nap instead. Which is really unlike him.

I offer the boob every time and he usually takes it for about 10 min if that, so I don't think hes that hungry. I tried a paci last night and he got pissed big time as soon as it touched his lips he started screaming (he doesn't normally use a paci if he does its only for 5 min and he spits it out.) If this keeps up for much longer I'm going to try rocking him but we are currently unpacking boxes and getting moved in to our new house and so genius person (H) crammed the rocker behind and under all of our boxes. So for now we just walk/bounce through the house until he calms down. I also tried putting him in his swing he wasn't having that either.

  • DS was STTN and then started waking up once and then twice and now he is up every two hours. I've got whatever plague is going around and my DH also freaking sleeps through everything, so in order for me to get some rest my mother took DS last night. For her he only woke once to eat... Wtf?!

  • I have decided that men just have a special talent to sleep through babies crying.  DD can make one little noise and I'm up....yet she can be full on screaming and 50% of the time, DH doesn't even hear it.

I'm going on day 8 of this baloney.  She only sleeps for one hour at a time.  I'm working full time and I haven't gotten more than 90 minutes of consecutive sleep in a week.  WEEEEEE!!!

  • This is seriously the most painfully mind numbing time period ever. It's making me very snippy towards DH and I'm pretty sure he hides at work longer and goes in sooner to stay away from the debauchery. Can't blame him! If anyone is down with some words with friends or draw something from ummm midnight til 6am, I'm up! Eek!!

  • We had 5 really bad nights of up between 79 times. If my DH isnt traveling, he helps a ton. Last night was amazing and back to normal. Fingers crossed it lasts....sleep deprivation is just awful.

  • My DH is gone for work and LO has been sleeping terribly since the day he left. Given, we did transition her from bedsharing to the PnP the day before he left but still! She goes to bed around 8 then she sleeps till about 10, another wake up at 12, then 2, then 4, then at 5 she will poop like 3 times in a row over an hour long period. She is out again at 6:30 and wakes up at 8. I am going insane!

  • I've been dealing with this since Nov 12th....every single night. Finally I had my mom come help me last night bc DH works 3rd shift and LO did AWESOME. Why? My mom put DS to sleep on his tummy! He only woke twice at his normal feeding times! I don't want this to become a habit and I know the SIDS thing, but all of us slept GREAT! I feel like a new woman!! Lol!
