I plan to breastfeed for the first few months, but will be transitioning to bottle feeding eventually. Any suggestions as to which bottle brands are best for this situation?
We used Playtex Drop-ins to supplement breastfeeding. Not sure what you mean by "few" months. If you make it to 4-6 months I would recommend at least trying to transition straight to sippy cup. I still breasfeed, but I give my daughter water out of the nuby one and she picked it up pretty quick.
I noticed that when we used Playtex Drop-Ins, Avent, or Tommee Tippee, baby had a tendency to just grab on to the small part at the end, and then he would pinch me pretty bad when he nursed. With the nips we use, he pulls the whole thing into his mouth, just like when he nurses.
Looks like it really depends on the baby - we bought quite a few and settled on these. But who knows, maybe our next baby will love the bags of Avent bottles we have!

Re: Best bottle to transition from breast?
This exactly (although we're off the bottle now, we used both Dr. Browns and Tommee Tippee).
The best bottle is whatever your baby will take - and not all babies, take all bottles, so don't stock up ahead of time.
That being said, it helps to look for a slow-flow nipple, which is more breastfeeding friendly.
BFP#1 10 wk missed mc
BFP#2 DS born at 40+2 on 8/14/12 BFP#3 DD Born at 39+3 on 5/13/14
Ds3 doesn't like those or simalac bottles, but i sah now so he hardly ever gets one.
Sometimes, I'm hilarious.
Yup. I use TT and Dr Browns and have not had any issues.
We use the standard nipples, like the slow-flow version of these: https://www.babyearth.com/gerber-silicone-nipples-6pk.html
