Less movement...

Okay, I realize I'm not quite 16 weeks, but I've been feeling the baby since 11.5 weeks and more recently I've been feeling the baby most every at some point. This baby went CRAZY on Thanksgiving. The problem is that is the last time I felt movement. I've done the cold water and lying still and trying to be more aware, but absolutely nothing. It worries me that something might be wrong, but I also know the baby is still small at this point.

My 16 week appointment is Monday and I'll obviously talk to my doctor and she'll do the doppler, but would any of you ladies be worried about this, or do you think it's just normal at this point? Thoughts?

Re: Less movement...

  • Have you tried something packed with sugar?  I had troubles with DD getting super lazy in there and my MD advised me to do 8 ounces of leaded juice or soda and then lay down for about an hour and do kick counts.  Obviously you have a kiddo and that may not be possible, but perhaps sugary beverage and then an hour video/snuggle with Mama?  Good luck and call your MD for peace of mind if you need to.

  • I was told at my 12 week appointment to not expect consistent movement until probably 19 or 20 weeks.  At this point I think I've felt a few flutters but definitely no kicks or anything.  I wouldn't be worried.  It's pretty small right now and in a big home and could be wiggling somewhere that it is hard to feel.  I had an ultrasound done on Saturday night and it was insane how much it was moving and how difficult it was to get measurements and I didn't even feel the slightest twinge of a flutter.

  • I am 18 weeks and I have been feeling the baby since 12 weeks but I still have days when I can't feel him and I have a small frame. A lot depends on which way the baby is facing and at 16 weeks baby has a lot of room to squirm still.

if it makes you feel better you can call your dr to see if you can go in for a Doppler check! I hope baby starts kicking for you soon!

  • I haven't really felt movement and I'm starting to get a little concerned. I'm not sure what I'm looking for with the movement and when I think it's movement it happens so infrequently that I just assume it's nothing.

I have an appt today and I'm hoping the doppler will make me feel better.

  • If your concerned you could always buy an at home doppler.  I recently bought a sonoline B doppler from fetaldoppler.net and I love it!!!  It was fairly cheap, about 55 dollars.  I ordered it late one Tuesday and received it that same Friday.  Really quick shipping.  I would recommened that if you get concerned.  It really helped me!  I personally only feel little flutters everyday.  I'm a FTM so I don't really know what to expect or know what to look for, but the doppler does help my nerves if I get nervous.  GL!

  • Well, I just took a moment to sit on the couch and just decompress and I felt the little huckleberry moving. Whew. Normally I'm not a crazy person, but It had been so many days I was starting to get worried something might be wrong. Thanks for the reassurance :)

I really want a doppler, I've thought about it, but soon I'll be able to feel it much more frequently and I won't worry as much.
