I've read alot of the opinion on carriers are personal perference to feel/look/etc. Do you have a buy buy baby in your area? They have like 20 options ranging from $20 - $200 and they have a fake (freaky realistic) baby that you can use and try them all out. That's how we picked ours.

We don't. Trying them on is a great idea though - I'll have to see if any of the shops around here do something similar.
I think there are some websites where you can rent carriers too - not sure if those brands are included, but I remember looking into that at one point. That way you could try it with the actual baby.
FWIW, I have an Ergo and really like it. Even at 25 lbs, I can wear DS and it doesn't hurt my back. I also got a K'Tan and did not find that to be as comfortable or easy to use. I bought the Ergo when it was on Babysteals, so it was cheaper.
I don't know anything about the Boba but I LOVE my Ergo. I still use it with my 3 year old when we go on hikes and she gets tired of walking. I also really loved it when she was an infant. They are expensive but I have gotten every penny out of mine.
Boba. I don't know anyone who has regretted the Boba and most people I know that have/had the Ergo regretted it and moved on to something else, often the Boba.
Thanks, ladies! I think we'll try to find a store that'll let us take one of each for a "test drive." I know a few Ergo ladies who LOVE it, but the comparisons with the Boba and the price tag are just so tempting! I think we'll probably end up registering for one, then if we hate it, we can find a used of the second. With excellent reviews on both, I'm guessing we'd be happy with either in the end.
Is it true that the Boba is a little wider/meant for larger people? My hubby and I are both 130ish (well, pre-preg anyway. and fairly small. I read one review that the boba was too big for some people.
So I don't have a Boba, but I do have an Ergo. I love my Ergo. To the point that I gave away my Moby (which I hated) and my Bjorn (I also hated, hurt my back). And this time I purchased the infant insert to use. I used my Ergo almost everyday from the time Landon was 6 months to 18 months. And DH still carries him on his back with it. I probably could, but he's a pretty tame kid and does really well with walking on his own and holding hands or sitting in his umbrella stroller. And I'm really clumsy and awkward and never quite mastered getting him on my back on my own. He's 2 years 3 months. Love the Ergo!

You might want to post this on the Attachment Parenting board. There are a lot of very knowledgable baby wearing mamas over there.
