MH is applying for a new job, because we are going to try and move cities. He just started a new job in August 2012, but when he updated his resume he, I'm sure accidentally, putt August 2006. So his previous job is listed from July 2006-August 2012 and his most current job is listed as August 2006-Present (instead of August 2012-Present). They are two engineering firms, so surely the company he is applying for will figure out that he did not work at two firms for 6 years. How big of a deal do you think this is?
FWIW, I helped him write his cover letter, which turned out great. I helped him review his resume in July when he was applying for a new job in town, so I didn't really think to review the resume again now.... I could kick myself!
ETA: Cover letter and resume are already sent via e-mail -- no turning back now!
Re: Resume Mistake -- big deal or not?
Yes, I figured the company would ask for clarification, but I thought that would be NBD. I was just hoping since he described himself as a "detailed-oriented" person in his cover letter, that they would second-guess that because of this silly error. I haven't told DH yet what I noticed, because I know he would just worry about it and blame himself for it if he didn't get an interview. Poor guy!
This. If they have a ton of applicants they may not call him back if they find out his resume is wrong on their own since it's an easy way to whittle down the applicant pool. I would have him contact them and resend his resume with an short apology note explaining the error.
I like the way you think Lopes! I was afraid that it might just "disqualify" him and they wouldn't even consider it. I do interviews at my workplace and it is likely that I would have done that. Ugh, I guess I'll tell him this afternoon -- we have our NT scan at 1:30!
I need to post a couple of those (crappy cell phone) pics!
This!
Yes! And text them to me so I can have a copy! :-)
