So my OB's office is seperate than the place that we get our U/S.. my OB told me that they won't contact me about the A/S unless they saw something that concerned them... so my OB office just called and my heart dropped out of my butt.
I have to go back in two weeks for another U/S beacuse the baby was so hyper they couldn't get a good measurement on her heart.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm assuming if it was something they were concerned over, they would tell me right?
Re: Have to go back for another U/S...
Can't wait to meet baby Liam Paul!
My photo blog Baby Makes Three
Same thing happened here- my A/S was a little early (long story) and they just want to get a better measurment on a more developed heart. So we are actually going in for our f/up U/S today! So, you are not alone!
It probably didn't help that I indulged on a little iced tea before the scan, so the baby was hyper. Mom fail.
Thanks, girls. I hope they're able to get a good measurement this time.... at least I get to see her again!
Don't worry, it freaked me out too. They just want to make sure they have clear pictures of everything, which is reassuring.
No experience, but try not to worry too much. (easier said then done!) They can't determine if there's anything wrong if they can't see it. Chances are everything is fine, but they need to confirm that.
T&Ps to you! I hope you go back and they see a perfect little heart!
I wouldn't assume anything is wrong! I think it sounds genuinely like they just didn't get a good enough shot to know one way or another. But with the "we wont' call unless something is wrong" warning, I would have freaked out too.
Haha Mirrored- she was so having a dance party in there. I called DH to tell him about the 2nd U/S and he goes "Well maybe if you didn't drink iced tea before the appt she wouldn't have been trying to do Gangnam Style in there." Lol...
Thanks for the reassurance, sometimes my mind likes to think the worst.
Very true!
Thanks!
No need to stress
I'm sure they would have said something if there was something to be worried about.
Sometimes positioning is everything.
If it makes you feel better, I have to go back on Monday (two 1/2 weeks after our original scan) for a follow up because our little man curled up in a ball right under my belly button so we hardly got any of the measurements needed.
Oh good point! Thanks.
Our tech warned us at the U/S that she couldn't get good pictures/measurments of a lot of things because of the position baby was in so it's very likely we will have to do another one in a few weeks.
I wouldn't stress too much about it (easier said than done!).....they probably just couldn't get a good view and want to be extra cautious.
I posted about this yesterday! I had the exact same thing happen. Needless to say, I kinda freaked out (over protective FTM 110%).
I've chilled out a little now, done my research and this isn't uncommon.
I see my OB Monday and will likely have to go for another u/s. My goal is not to freak myself out too much until AFTER I get some results back.
Fingers crossed we both just have active little ones who will be much better for the cameras next go around!
This is an excellent point! Thank you! We're in the same boat so these post have been very reassuring. I think it's mostly a cya situation for the tech. I kind of got chided by the midwife because we had our a/s at 18 weeks and she said this happens a lot when moms come in for a/s's before 20 weeks. Who knew?
I feel the same as Vaness1229 - If they had really been concerned, they would have asked you to come back right away. Still, I know I probably couldn't help but worry a little if I were in your shoes. I mean, that's a mom's job, right? Hopefully the next 2 weeks fly by and your next u/s brings you nothing but peace of mind.
