Too Many Chocolate Chips (1st RE Update)

First of all, thanks for all of the good thoughts and prayers today for my 1st RE appt.

It went well, and we have an official diagnosis and a treatment plan....completely overwhelmed by all of the information they gave me today, but it feels good to know that we have a plan!

DH's SA was PERFECT....he can't stop looking at the paper!!

I had a transvaginal ultrasound (1st one ever, so I was super nervous), but like everyone has told me, it wasn't a big deal. While doing the ultrasound, the dr. pointed everything out on the screen and explained what everything was. At one point, she said "See these circles, these are your ovaries. Now, see all of those chocolate chips on those circles....you have about 30 on each one, and 8 is normal." At this point she told me that I most likely have PCOS (which I figured, as I have several classic symptoms.....acne and excess body hair).

Her plan is for me to come in next week for my HSG....seeing my anxiety today, she has already prescribed me Valium for the procedure...which already makes me feel better.

The plan she would like to proceed with is Femara CD3-7, ultrasound monitoring appts, trigger shot, and IUI. I'm on CD1 today, so she said we can go forward with this plan this cycle. I on the other hand, feel like I need another month. I am overwhelmed with everything from today, and just want to wait until my next CD1 to begin the actual "intervention" part of this journey. I'm also considering doing at least one cycle with medication, monitoring, and TI instead of IUI....is it normal for RE's to move straight to IUI instead of letting you try medication with TI first??

Thanks again ladies!!

I think you should ask about just TI, you can see in my siggy we have spent the past year doing TI with 1 IUI, but here we are now in the middle of IVF...so, I don't regret any of our decisions.  We did save a pretty penny not doing IUI each month and we know my DH's stuff gets to the right place as I have gotten PG 3 times.

I don't think it's unreasonable to do TI... I have PCOS also and DH has perfect and above for everything... So we are doing Letrozole (off brand Femera) CD 5-9 hcg trigger and monitoring with TI... We have had one not implant at all and one pregnancy end in loss... Totally take the time if you feel you need it and ask for TI if you would rather! It's completely possible!! :)

I would try TI.  We have always done TI with femara.  I don't have a real diagnosis but DH's SA is perfect.
