DS flips over and fights for every diaper change...it's tough. I try toys, singing, pretty much everything you are doing. sometimes he will sit I count from one to whatever number, changing tone of my voice. good luck
We have a houdini too... glow worm or some other toy sometimes works. Sometimes we just chase his bare butt round the bed and tickle him till he falls over laughing, other times we diaper him in reverse lol... Henry the hand puppet is always a good distraction when there are two of us..... whatever works!
He was bad before he could crawl, now it's like chasing houdini on steroids lol I wouldnt dare try and change him on a changing table, the bed or floor are hard enough.
I'm not much help. Dd squirms everywhere and I often have to diaper her upside down. Someone at our yoga class said she printed off some black and white photos of faces and taped them to the wall by her changing place and her DC just lays there and stares at them.
I might get in trouble for this...does she like TV? I will change LO near the TV and find some cartoons or something for him to watch. Most of the time then he will lay still. Otherwise, I sing a silly little made up song about changing his diaper to the tune of row row your boat.

I got some pull ups. That helps bug time. Each time I take the diaper off, I'm letting her sit on the potty. I read somewhere that the fight is a signal they're ready for that independence. Thanks for all of your help!
I feel really bad for you all with unhappy ones during diaper changes! If Helen ever gets fussy or cranky, I just put her on her changer and she's all smiles and giggles. I have a small zebra-disc-thing that I keep up there which squeaks that she loves and she also loves getting tummy tickles while being changed. So maybe try some tickles and tummy raspberries? I like to think part of her happy changing time is because she likes her cloth diapers, hee hee but I know in reality that's neither here nor there.
My DS will grab the side of the changing table and flip over onto his tummy as often as he can. He knows he is not supposed to (I gently yet firmly tell him no) but will still have a big grin. To distract him, I will tell him a story (5 little monkeys, etc.) in a very animated voice and insert his name into it. He gets all wide eyed and momentarily forgets he was trying to squirm off of the table! LOL! Not sure how much longet that trick will work but it's worth a try...
