EP'ers how often do you sterilize pump parts? How often do you change pump parts like the membrane?
I am currently EP'ing to build supply before my LO has tongue tie taken care of. Not sure how often to do deep clesning. Currently I rinse parts after each use, wash once daily, and sterilize when i remember to every few days. I havent changed membrane yet and have been pumping 8-11 times daily for past month.
Re: EP Q: how often to sterilize/ change pump parts
I've been EPing since August. I've changed my membranes once. I wipe my parts down between pump sessions when I'm at work and then wash with hot soapy water when I get home. On the weekends, I rinse them with water after every pump and wash with soap once a day. I really don't sterilize. I just never think to do it.
I think you can change the membranes whenever you start to feel a loss of suction or if you're noticing that you need to turn it up higher than you usually do to get the same result.
Not an EP'er but I pump at work and sometimes at home. There's not really a need to rinse after each use. I just throw them in a plastic bowl in the fridge (or in a ziplock at work in my pumping room fridge).
I only steralized before 1st use and then while we were dealing with thrush. I haven't changed my membranes at all but I have 3 sets that I rotate through. I wash with hot soapy water each night for the sets that I take to/from work.
I change the membranes on the 1st of the month.
I have had recurring mastitis so I can't reuse my parts. I have 4 sets and wash them either with soapy water or in the dishwasher after each pump. I rarely sanitize and I pump 5ppd at 7months
