Do you all try and stick to a schedule like eat play sleep? Or do you let LO determine timing? I'm struggling with what to do? What has been your experience with you choice? If you do schedule is it based on time, order of operation or both?
TIA
We are slowly approaching a more set schedule. The routine is eat, play, sleep and the nap times are finally settling into a some what regular time. That being said I don't let the clock dictate...if he needs to eat earlier I go with it. Bed time varies by 30 to 60 minutes depending on his last nap time.
LO is at daycare during the day and I think right now they just wing it. Hes a generally happy baby so I don't see any need to change things. However bedtime is scheduled play, bath, jamies, eat, and bed by 9-9:30. I think if I He was fussy I would try a schedule to see if that helped and when he gets older i'll probably start a nap time and eating schedule but for now i'm just going with whats working.
This except bedtime can be a half hour later or earlier depending on how the day has gone. Mostly though he is down at 9:00 every night. I hear they need an earlier bedtime after four months.
We have a routine too we bathe him, pjs, books, nurse, rock, bed.
We go with his cues except for bedtime. He has a set routine but the time can vary between 8 & 9 ish depending on how busy the day was and if he needs to get down a bit earlier.
We're more on a routine but I still try to listen to Ds2s cues. Its usually eat, play, sleep but sometimes its eat, sleep, play, sleep, eat. I don't watch the clock but Ds2 usually eats every 3 to 4 hours.
Just do whatever works best for your family. Follow LOs cues. I think our LOs are too young to follow a clock routine.
we still wing it to an extent, but she's pretty set in how long she's up. she's down for a nap within 2-3 hours of waking up. Bed time is flexible for right now too, but she again goes down between 6 and 8pm. Daddy goes back to work next week and now that she's over 3 months we're going to start doing more sleep training and getting onto a better schedule, especially for nighttime.

Wing it, but not b/c I want to! For the most part we try eat, play, sleep, but sometimes he is hungry before naps, which are usually about 45-50 minutes but can be up to 2 1/2 hours if he feels like it. And sometimes he is hungry again at bedtime. It's hard to BF and be on a "schedule" so I try to have a "routine" instead. Like reading a book before naps, bath before bed, etc. Things he can get used to expecting. I would LOVE to be on a more predictable schedule but everyone I talk to says their kids didn't get on a schedule until 4-6 months so I am trying not to stress about it ("trying" being the key word here).
Just go with the flow as much as you can and nap when they do, even if it's a short one. Every little bit helps, right?
Wing it, until bedtime. Bedtime doesn't change or he melts down. Wake up time is generally the same time and the first nap is usually the same too, but the other naps I let him dictate how much rest he needs. Sometimes he only needs an hour, sometimes 2. He eats about every 2.5 to 3 hours. So sometimes he eats right before he goes down for a nap.
As long as he's happy, a schedule is not important this young. Maybe after a year old, I may start a schedule.

Do you a bet time routine? And if so how do you time out when they eat with when they go to bed?
We do bedtime the same way every night regardless of other eating times during the day. DH gives her a bottle at bedtime and we will size it depending on how recently she's eaten before that. At 6:45 I take her upstairs and give her a bath, then he feeds her and swaddles her, and she's asleep by 7:30 pm.

We pretty much wing it and follow his cues. He doesn't have a schedule or a plan to have one, lol... We followed ODS's cues too and he put himself on a set schedule perfectly.

ETA: He is sort of developing his own schedule though. Nap after first morning bottle, nap again around lunch and cat nap late afternoon. He's ready for bed between 7 and 8, usually closer to 7.

Ditto. She's starting to show some patterns that will probably develop in to a schedule we follow as she gets older.

Bedtime is mostly sacred. Eat, bath, eat, sleep. We start at about 715 and he is out by 8.
