*I baby sit 3 days a week for a 3 year old and a 10 month old. A few months ago their mother, the women I work for, told me she was starting the process to be a surrogate. She was implanted about two weeks after we found out we were pregnant.
She recently started to have a lot of issues and today she found out she lost both babies. She asked me to keep her kids late tonight, which I have no problem doing. But I am unsure how she is going to handle being around me, with my pregnancy. I know it wasn't her babies that she was carrying but I think the loss has really effected her. I just hope that being around me wont make it harder on her.
Re: Awkward
How awful for her. Does she all ready know about your pregnancy? If not, I would tell her in the next few weeks and make sure that you do it during a quiet time so you have plenty of time to talk about it if needed.
I would just let her know how sorry you are and offer to help out more if needed. Going through a loss is a terrible, heart-wrenching experience. . People may assume that since they were not her biological children that she was not attached to them and may not feel the pain of loss as strongly. I think she is probably devastated. Just give her some time and let her talk if she needs to. Let her know that you are there for her.

Yeah, she does know. She was actually one of the first people to know because we talked about my previous loss and us trying to get pregnant.
I feel awful for her and even more so for the women who she was helping.
