breast feeding/pumping

Anyone else still doing it?

I feel like Nick is going in the opposite direction and is now suddenly requesting to nurse ALL the time. He never used to that until recently.

Re: breast feeding/pumping

  • I am! I read that around 15mo they eat like newborns. LO asks a lot more lately. She signs for it, which is nice - she's not yelling MILK! in public, haha. (AKA at my MIL's house!)

  • Still going here, though I haven't noticed an uptick in frequency. It'd be nice to make it through this cold & flu season.

  • Nope, but anticipating starting up again (with number two.) Spent some time with my friend and her newborn, and in was reminded of how fun the sore nipples were in the beginning. Do miss nursing though and honestly can't wait to start.

  • We are still going strong here.  DS went through a streak of wanting to eat all.day.long, but now we are back down to 3-4 times a day. I think his uptick was related to getting more teeth and fighting a cold.

  • Still breastfeeding, but in the past 1.5 weeks my milk has dried up very suddenly and he's just doing it for comfort.  I am trying to reduce nursing sessions to 2-3 times a day instead of the usual 5 times and he doesnt seem to mind.  I don't mind continuing because it's not painful or uncomfortable

I never had the sore nipples, the only time they were sore was when he was teething

we'll continue until.....??? i'm not sure when :0P

I am so glad to see someone else with this attitude.  I had a rash of "your STILL nursing" comments this weekend.  Thankfully I'm confident in our decision to keep nursing, but they got annoying!

  • Yup!  Twice on weekdays and 3 times on weekends when I'm at home.  She only wants to nurse before nap, before bed time, or when she wakes up in the morning.  During the day, she will sometimes pull at my shirt and suck her fingers while snuggling.  If I offer to nurse, she isn't interested...she just wants to snuggle...so. cute.

  • I am! not so much pumping anymore, but still nursing,

I dont keep track of how many times a day but probably about 6??

I dont offer, I only nurse when she comes up to me and points at boob or pulls my shirt.

I still have mixed feelings about cutting her off so I guess I am not ready yet to cut her off we are just going with the flow right now. but I am scared and know it will be hard when we stop...

I have been wondering, not that you have experienced it yet but maybe others on here can answer. Do you still get sore nipples with nursing baby #2, #3 ect.? I would think they would be less sensitive if nursed baby #1

My friend nursed for a year, went almost 6 months without nursing, and she is now nursing her newborn. She is having a lot of pain again.

I never had latching issues. I was lucky there. They never bled or cracked. However, I do remember them being sore and sensitive, usually just for the first few minutes of each nursing session.

  • BFing when I'm at home, I had quite a freezer stash so he's been getting 1 sippy a day with ~4-5oz. Quit pumping at 13m.

Plan to keep it up until 2yrs+
