I went to my Dr recently who began harassing me about not drinking enough water and she said she could tell because my lips are dry, I was drinking 70 Ozs of water at that point and I really think dry lips are just something I get when pregnant. The dr told me to double my water intake. 140 Ozs? Seriously? I feel like I am flooding the baby.
Re: How many Ozs. of water are you drinking a day?
I got the exact same speech from a different Dr my last pregnancy. And I chugged and chugged, I dont like being lectured about water intake when I thought I was doing well. I also drink Apple Juice a lot (new craving).
I have a history of PTL as well, I didnt realize fluids were in relation to that.
That's so weird that everyone seems to have dry lips. MINE ARE TOO. I have a stupid cold sore too, which blows.
I'm drinking 2-3 liters a day at work, but like others said, it's hard to continue when I'm at home.
Some days I can drink up to a gallon of waters. Then some days I struggle to even drink a couple of glasses.
On a side note, my lips are dry too lol. I'm blaming it on the weather

I woke up this morning with a cold sore... aka fever blister. I was wondering if I got it b/c my body temp has been higher since I have been pregnant (it stays at around 99.8)
for a couple weeks i was getting cold sores/canker sores and i've never gotten them before in my life (well unless I bit my lip or something).
I really hope my doctor doesn't say anything about dry lips, I always have chapped lips, I just figured it comes with living at altitude in the dry air. Being pregnant must just make it that much worse. I feel like I'm a fish with all the water I drink. I go through at least 3-4 pints of water a day in the office (not sure what that equates to in oz) and then another 3-4 when i'm at home.
I remember hearing before that the amount of water a person should drink (non-pregnant of course) was supposed to be at least half their weight in oz. So if you weighed 100 lbs, you should be drinking somewhere around 50 oz of water. I figured a pregnant lady should try to double that?
My midwife told me to make sure my pee is very pale or colorless. I think if that's the case with you then you're probably fine.
I'm not a doctor, of course, but have never heard about dry lips being a sign of dehydration. I think it's more likely that your nose is more stuffed up than usual (common pregnancy symptom) so you're breathing through your mouth more.

I had PTL with my older 2, because with my oldest I got the flu and never successfully replaced lost fluids and dehydration caused my ptl. I was on bed rest for 10w with my 1st and then had to drink a gallon a day. I was told if I ever had more kids I had a 50/50 chance of ptl happening again. So of course I had 6w bed rest with my 2nd. I don't ever want to do that again so I do my best to choke down a lot of water!
Could be. Being too hot, chapped lips, drinking directly from soda cans and (of course) stress are all reason why I get them. They're so annoying.
Apparently I am not drinking enough water. Between water, tea and gatorade throughout the day, I am getting about 60 ozs. That is probably double what I would drink daily pre-pregnancy.
I have always drank a lot of water. I drink about 120-140 oz a day of water and I might have 20 oz in addittion to that in soda or juice a day.
The weird thing is my urine is very yellow, I think it is due to my vitamins. Pre-pregnancy (pre-vitamins) my urine was always pretty clear.
