My friend and I were thinking of adopting a family this year for Christmas, so I am scrolling through reading about different families and the stories are so sad! There is one family just wishing for a Christmas tree, jackets for their two little ones, and "good health wishes".
I want to adopt all of the families!
Re: Heartbreaking...
That is sad, sad stories really get me because I try and imagine myself in their situation.
May I ask where you are adopting a family from? Is it something online? We have where you can "adopt" a child but I hadn't heard of adopting a whole family.. I love that idea.
The newspaper in our county posts them once a week, as well as them being online. There is a quick description. Once you pick one, you can call and they will give you more info on the family. A lot of them are single parents, families with medical problems and large medical bills, or families were both parents lost their job. Some will request a simple toy for their kid, pajamas, shoes, one mom requested a small toy and stuff to make a holiday dinner.
Here are some random examples of how it is set up:
34. Bedding, clothing and shoes are requested by a mother of two girls, aged 17 and five. Working part time isnt providing the income she needs for this family, says Mom. Finances do not meet with our basic obligations, she says. The kids are great in understanding, and I would love for them to have something special for Christmas.
35. Parents of four also care for a parent in a twobedroom apartment. Dad works in landscaping, and isnt finding lots of work right now. Mom stays at home to provide care for the children and her fatherinlaw. We have very little money, she says. A twoyearold girl likes Barbie dolls, and a fouryearold girl hopes for a tea set.
